For this BURBERRY PRORSUM winter 2011-12 collection, CHRISTOPHER BAILEY, the beautiful creative mind, sent boys down the catwalk all covered in color.
Yes, the first looks of this catwalk were coat-covered bodies in exceptional colors such as primary red and vibrant blue.
Kind of sexy, when this implies that these coats were worn over a nude “surface”. Wishful thinking?
The issues are that there is a 60s swinging thing in this part of the collection, a retro re-invented vibe and it’s like an ode to BURBERRY classics and tradition. And at this point we realize that BURBERRY is a culture.
But the “masterpiece” is the lesson on how to wear the coat in all kinds of shapes, prints and sizes, over slim leg trousers and rubber sole ankle boots, but also about how to wear color.
And although I cannot show it to you, something very “hollywoodish” happened at the finale where all boys walked down the runway with see-through raincoats under real rain recreated like in a L.A studio. Check www.youtube.com/burberry for this one.
In part 2 we would like to show you some more…
