1872, when Simon Tissot Dupont created a luggage & leather goods workshop to satisfy the wanderlust hysteria of his era.
Through his vision for the Art of Travelling, he produced personalized items for the elite, including Napoleon III & Empress Eugenia.

In 1941 came one of their greatest successes: The S.T. DUPONT Lighter. Especially the solid gold one ordered by Maharajah of Patiala. A 3 year completion of the one hundred Chinese lacquer clutch bags the Maharajah ordered for his consorts, each one containing the solid gold lighter.
